Selection Nationalteam
The structure of the swisswushu national squad is aligned with international standards. Squad athletes are also issued with a Swiss Olympic Card appropriate to their level. You can find all the information about the squad structure and selection process here:

The following conditions apply for selection to the Taolu squad:
Elite Taolu
Retention in the squad:
To retain a place in the squad, all three free forms (unarmed, short weapon, long weapon) must be demonstrated at all swisswushu tournaments. Exception: Absences approved by the Head of Competitive Sport. The aim is to qualify for the European and World Championships, which require a certain standard. If this standard is not achieved after one year, conditions will be imposed which must be met within a specified period.
New squad members:
To secure a place in the squad, you must have two free forms (one bare-fist and one weapon form), which must be performed at all three swisswushu tournaments of the year. The C-grade must be at least 1.5.
Junior A Taolu
Participation in all swisswuhsu qualifying tournaments in the three compulsory forms 89/2001/2012 (unarmed, short weapon, long weapon).
Junior B Taolu
Competition in all swisswuhsu qualifying tournaments in two compulsory forms (one fist form and one weapon form).
Qingda / Sanda (Elite & U20/15)
Selection for the competition squads is based on the current ranking list. However, athletes must have won more matches than they have lost in their discipline. The Head of Competitive Sport decides on any exceptions.
Athletes are placed in the international weight categories based on their most recent competition weight.
Important: These are only the minimum requirements. Exceptions regarding nominations can only be made by the Head of Elite Sport in consultation with the national coach. Final selection is based on a general motor skills test and a sport-specific test (selection training) – PISTE by SwissOlympic
Squad training sessions
Squad training sessions are usually held once a month. Attendance is compulsory for all squad members. Each squad is led by a national squad coach, who is responsible for the technical aspects of their squad.
Cooperation with the school coach
Membership of the national squad is only possible if it is supported by the school coach or headteacher. The school coach is responsible for the training programme between squad training sessions. Squad training sessions are primarily intended to assess the athletes’ current level and define training priorities. These priorities are to be implemented by the school coach. The relevant national coaches are available to discuss these matters.
Career planning
The Head of Competitive Sport may be consulted by the headteacher regarding career planning or where an athlete shows exceptional potential.
